Democrats Hijack Wisconsin's Political Process

Janesville,WI—January 17th, 2012—This afternoon Wisconsin Democrats and their big labor union allies have submitted their recall petitions to the Government Accountability Board. Although these groups view this as an accomplishment, nothing could be further from the truth: the actions of these organizers, many of whom have been hired from out of state, have only succeeded in disrupting Wisconsin’s return to prosperity. Moreover, they have done so at the expense of Wisconsin’s taxpayers who will foot the bill for a recall election that will exceed $9 million.

According to Jason Mielke, Chairman of the Republican Party of Rock County, “Today is a sad day for everyone that lives in Wisconsin. Special interest groups have hijacked Wisconsin’s political process and perverted the tools of control provided by our state constitution into an illegitimate political weapon.”

The media has made several reports of duplicate signatures and highly suspect names on these petitions over the past month. The Republican Party of Rock County will join thousands of other Republicans throughout Wisconsin to verify the integrity of these petitions. Additionally, the Republican Party of Rock County will work to protect the integrity of the decision Wisconsin voters made in 2010 to balance the $3.6 billion budget deficit and make Wisconsin friendly for jobs again.
